Gazzetta dello Sport report that Atletico Madrid fans’ recent demonstration has had no effect on Diego Godin’s proposed move to Inter.

The Uruguayan is to join the Nerazzurri on a free transfer at the end of the season and he has had an agreement in place with Inter for a few weeks now.

Godin has provisionally agreed to a two year deal with an option to a third year with Inter worth €5.5 million per season.

The 32-year-old could put pen to paper on a pre-contract agreement as early as next month in a move that will likely anger the supporters of the Spanish capital club.

At their game at the weekend, several fans groups protested about the fact they looked set to lose their club captain, who has been with the side for some eight and a half years.

This season Godin has made a total of 21 appearances in all competitions for the Colchoneros, nine of which he has recorded a clean sheet.
