Torino legend and former Inter striker Marco Ferrante has shared his thoughts and feelings ahead of his former sides fixture against one another this weekend, firstly speaking on Inter striker Mauro Icardi and Torino’s Andrea Belotti.

“Inter are not good in the build-up phase, this despite them being a big team. Icardi does not get properly supplied but having said that he needs to do more and go looking for the ball. If I were him I would drop back a litte and participate more in this phase,” he told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Belotti can hurt you if he faces you because he has devastating physical strength. He is not clinical enough and he must have two or three chances – something Torino struggle to create – to score goals.”

Ferrante then spoke on Torino’s European football credentials.

“With two or three wins they can come back in to the equation. Every game is crucial for Torino, if they beat Inter and then lose to SPAL  they are starting again. They need to trigger a mental mechanism that will allow them to make the jump in quality. The people of Turin want European football.”

He concluded by speaking on the manager’s Luciano Spalletti and Walter Mazzari.

“Spalletti knows he has important players and that consequently Inter could do more. He always has the gun pointed at him.

“Mazzarri realises that the objective is slowly moving away, so if he does not get two or three important results now, there is a risk that the last ten to twelve matches become meaningless.”
