Inter new boy Cedric Soares has been officially presented as an Inter player today and following his presentation he spoke to the media.
“What are my first impressions? Inter is a really fantastic, very organised club, they are really great,” he said in an interview with broadcaster Sky Sport.
“I have always liked Inter and even more so now that I am here. Everyone gave me a big welcome and they are helping me a lot. I was able to talk with Zanetti, who was a great player. I’m having fun and if there’s something that amazed me, it is the number of fans sending me messages. It is really remarkable and it’s all amazing.”
Next he shared his love for Italy.
“I really like Italy very much. I want to be able to learn the language. I have many Italian friends who played with me in England or who live in London. I like Italy a lot, I came here on vacation last summer. It is a country that I already loved so much and it will be easier to settle in because of this.”
He then proceeded to discuss why he decided to select the number 21 shirt.
“I chose the number 21 because it is the number which I wear in the national team, who I have been a European champion with and I now hope to be a champion in Italy too.”
He was then asked about how similar he and former Inter defender and compatriot Joao Cancelo are.
“Cancelo and I are different players. I know him, he’s a good guy, we’re teammates in the national team but we have different characteristics. It’s hard to compare us because he also plays on wing which is something I’ve never done. For Inter and for Spalletti I will give 100% always and I am very happy to have the chance to play in a stadium like San Siro.”
Despite only just getting his feet in the door, he shared his desire to stay at the club past his initial loan spell.
“I’m here to give my all, I want to show my footballing ability as much as possible and I hope it’s enough to stay at Inter. I want to stay here, otherwise I would not have come.”
He concluded the interview with some words for Interisti; “Ciao and Forza Inter, Amala!”
