Player Ratings Inter 1 – 1 Lazio: Second Seasonal Objective Failed

Lazio proved to be too difficult in the quarterfinal of the Coppa Italia for Inter who fail the second objective of the season, namely to qualify for the semifinal’s at the very least.

Samir Handanovic – 8: Made several fantastic saves & was the reason the match went to extra time let alone penalties. Great comeback after Torino debacle.

Danilo D’Ambrosio – 5: Struggled offensively but also defensively but his finest quality is he never ever gives up, which is why he won the penalty.

Joao Miranda – 6,5: After this performance he is really staking a place in the lineup. Phenomenal throughout the 120 minutes.

Milan Skriniar – 6: Solid as a rock at the back and looked to be enjoying playing with Miranda again. Rarely puts a foot wrong or looses any battles.

Kwadwo Asamoah – 6: As always stable defensively as well as offensively. Was incorrectly sent off but thanks to VAR he was given a correct yellow.

Marcelo Brozovic – 6,5: Inter’s Croatian midfield passing professor continues to give his lecture on how to dictate the tempo and rhythm of a midfield.

Roberto Gagliardini – 4: His worst performance in an Inter shirt. Looks completely out of form. Slow, sluggish, clumsy and appalling passing.

Joao Mario – 5,5: A solid performance by the Portuguese international. Shows great mental strength in being called on last minute after Borja’s injury.

Matteo Politano – 5: Runs his socks off and always delivers a decent cross more often than not but takes too long to shoot as well as telegraphs them.

Mauro Icardi – 6: Invisible for 124 minutes but steps up and scores the penalty to take Inter to the penalty shootout and there he chips it into goal.

Antonio Candreva – 5: Works and tries really hard and sometimes succeeds however missing a sitter like the one he missed is unforgivable.

Matias Vecino – 5,5: Came on for the abysmal Gagliardini at half time and immediately showed that football is easier when one moves between the lines.

Lautaro Martinez – 4: Brought on in 81st for Joao Mario and created chances. Yes chances that he missed when it was harder to do so than score. Missed a penalty in the shoot-out which meant that Lazio won.

Radja Nainggolan – 4: Looks, dresses and carries himself like a Ninja but when it comes down to it he is a scared child. Invisible. Poor penalty. Poor signing so far.

Cedric Soares – 5,5: Shows extreme mental strength when volunteering to take a penalty in the shoot-out three days after signing for the club.

Luciano Spalletti – 4,5: Cannot hide from the anti-football Inter played for large parts. His substitutions were detrimental rather than helpful. Under pressure.

Rosario Abisso – 6: What you want from a referee is consistency and Abisso provided just that. Used the VAR the way it was intended to be used.

Inter – 5: Awful and unwatchable for long periods but harmless when creating chances. The annual January depression tradition lives on.
