Noted Italian journalist touched upon Inter manager Luciano Spalletti as part of his weekly column for Corriere della Sera and compared him with Atalanta manager Gian Piero Gasperini.

“Gasperini is something that can not be explained in a democratic fashion. He has been the best Italian manager for the last 15 years,” he wrote.

“Inter had the audacity to bring him in and immediately regretted it as they would sack him within three months. Gasperini has taken Atalanta in to Europe twice and he undoubtedly knows football just as well as Max Allegri, Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho, even if he is rustic, vaguely intemperate, icy and unfriendly as someone who has had less than he deserves.

“Spalletti exited the Coppa Italia with the same boring wisdom he says all the time, Lazio were more of a team. Perhaps it is time to wonder why Inter’s transfer market often starts well and then stops later. If Gian Piero Gasperini is good in Bergamo, what is Spalletti in Milan?”
