Inter manager Luciano Spalletti blasted his players lack of character in his post-match press conference as Inter fell to a 1-0 defeat to Bologna at San Siro.

“In the coming week at training the players will have to look at each other for a reaction and pay heavier attention. The situation we are in requires this and it takes concrete answers. Mistakes and suspension of a player(s) can become even more important in this moment when things are going against you, when you are lacking confidence in your own abilities.”

Inter’s troubles in front of goal continued but it was not as if they did not have plenty chances to put an end to them.

“The way the game was we were not able to create many chances but we did have three clear cut chances. It is very difficult to make any more than this in a game like this. When you get sucked in to a vortex, scoring three goals is a lot but sometimes you just win with a moment of randomness. It is true that you can’t score in games but when you’ve created 3-4 chances like we did…”

He concluded by speaking on why Inter’s current problems have lasted as long as they have.

“It is clear that when you do not get the result you want it begins to weigh on you and it becomes a mental burden. The longer you do not solve it as a game develops, the talk of winning titles continues and just wearing the Inter shirt, the burden increases. Situations of difficulty always happen during the season. The problems have lasted longer for us as we do not have a level of character in the team that leads us to react.”
