Former Inter Primavera manager Stefano Vecchi has insisted that Nicolo Zaniolo being included in the deal that brought Radja Nainggolan to Inter was ‘right for everyone.’

“In retrospect it is easy to talk about what Nicolo is doing at the moment but it is also fair to say that in the Summer the move was good for everyone at the time.

“Inter needed to get players to help them get back to the top as quickly as possible. They wanted to be a protagonist in the Champions League and in addition to Zaniolo, Davide Santon was in the deal which enable them to sign a very important player in Nainggolan.

“It was good of Rome to believe in Nicolo because initially I thought he was being signed as a ‘support act’,” he continued.

“I maintain that it was right for everyone in the Summer but now Zaniolo is the future of Italy and it is a regrettable move for Inter.”
