Journalist Daniele Adani has shared his thought and feelings on the current situation Mauro Icardi finds himself in having been removed as club captain and then refusing to be part of the squad for last night’s match against Rapid Vienna.
“The shirt has to come before the player who is wearing it but also to the leaders at the club too. The chants of the Nerazzurri supporters in Vienna toward Handanovic, ‘there’s only one captain,’ is like them saying ‘we share the decision with you’ to the management,” he said in an interview with Sky Sport.
“This situation has been badly dealt with by him and his agent. His decision to refuse the call-up for Rapid Vienna was the wrong one. He must respond with a different attitude and Inter must know how to wait in order to get the best out of him. Icardi is an important player and needs to live the next few weeks in harmony with the club and in serenity.”
