Mario Corso recalled his Inter debut against Sampdoria in an interview as part of the matchday programme for Sunday night’s match between the two sides.
“Debuting against Sampdoria was an unforgettable moment with a lot of emotions for me. Having the privilege of playing together with Angelillo is something that still brings back great memories,” he said.
“I still remember that afternoon well, I came on as a substitute for Skoglund and I remained on the pitch from that game. In fact, I never got substituted from any game since that game against Sampdoria. Something that I always will have in my heart.
“I scored more than 90 times in my career, and those who stopped me from scoring drove me crazy. The football we played against Liverpool was something out of this world, and that match was truly epic, like the game between Inter and Barcelona in 2010.”
He concluded the interview by speaking on former Inter captain Armando Picchi.
“If I were to have to describe him to the younger fans, I would say he was an example for everyone, a wonderful person and a unique player. I also remember his charisma on the pitch. During every game he helped the team and managed to get us out of difficult situations. A legend and most of all, a friend.”
