Gazzetta dello Sport believe that Inter and Milan are at work on closing the gap between themselves and Juventus and that the Milanese clubs have larger margins for growth than recent challengers Roma and Napoli, as evidenced by their respective turnovers.

Juventus’ turnover in the past year has been a mouth-watering €411 million while Inter’s was €297 million and Milan’s €220 million. Just under half of Juventus’ turnover came from television rights, some €200 million to be precise.

In fact, Inter have already surpassed Juventus on the commercial front with thanks to the €100 million odd sponsorship deals from Asia.

However, despite a stadium half the size of San Siro, Juventus earn double than the Milanese clubs do. Increasing the hospitality areas at San Siro could help reduce the gap but a whole new stadium could see them surpass the Bianconeri altogether.

The clubs signed a ‘memorandum of understanding’ together at the end of last year with regards to dealing with the stadium but remains to be seen what the clubs’ intentions are.
