Inter Put Ball In Icardi’s Court After Revealing He Has No Injury

Inter’s official statement on Mauro Icardi’s medical exam yesterday revealed that the striker was not carrying an injury, or at least in comparison to his knee exam at the start of the season, there was no visible deterioration, according to Dr. Volpi.

Gazzetta dello Sport believes that the statement made by Inter yesterday was used to put the former captain in a corner and put all the responsibility for happens next on his shoulders.

Inter is therefore protected from further embarrassment. However, Mauro Icardi tells Dr. Volpi that he does feel pain and it is the clubs duty to believe the player in this scenario.

The Argentine will undergo a recovery programme, as Spalletti mentioned yesterday. The programme will include physiotherapy and athletic reconditioning to ensure that he does not lose fitness, so when he returns to Spalletti, he can partake in group training once again.

It can’t be said for sure how long the recovery will take as clubs work from week to week. Meaning, there will be a reevaluation of the situation on Monday and that Mauro will almost certainly miss the game against Fiorentina.

Gazzetta describes this story has grotesque, explaining that although Icardi is at Appiano, he is clearly feeling very embarrassed. The Milano based newspaper even believes that it is not impossible for Lautaro to become the starting striker for the rest of the season. Although, Icardi should be somewhat motivated to rejoin the team with the Copa America in the Summer.
