Mauro Icardi will not make a return until the problem with his knee is completely resolved according to a report from Corriere dello Sport.

This will mean that Icardi is set for a further few weeks out of action with the Rome based newspaper stating that on top of tonight’s game against Fiorentina, he will miss league matches with Cagliari and SPAL that fall either side of the first leg of Inter’s Europa League round of 16 clash with Eintracht Frankfurt.

At the moment Icardi has no desire to force the issue, something he has already done at times throughout the season by playing through the pain barrier.

Mystery continues to surround his future with the club past the end of the season and the Rome based newspaper have speculated about potential replacements for the 26-year-old at San Siro.

Manchester United’s Romelu Lukaku, Roma’s Edin Dzeko, Atalanta’s Duvan Zapata and RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner are all potential replacements, CorSport state.
