Former Milan chief executive Adriano Galliani has recalled pipping Inter to the signing of Gianluigi Donnarumma when he was younger.
“I remember when we beat Inter to his signature thanks to the input of Mauro Bianchessi, who insisted he was the goalkeeper of the future,” Galliani said in an interview with Milan News.
“I gave him the green light and we signed him. I am very happy to have brought him to Milan and I hope he remains Rossonero forever.
“Gigio has always had great talent and he often played with teammates one or two years older than him when he was growing up.”
Donnarumma made his first team debut for Milan aged just 16 back in 2015 and has since went on to make over 150 appearances for the club.
The now 20-year-old is widely regarded as one of the best up and coming goalkeepers on the planet and is being tipped for a very bright future both at club and international level, where he has already made 10 caps.
