SPAL manager Leonardo Semplici could make a return to the touchline for his side’s trip to Milan to take on Inter not this weekend but next according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport.
The 51-year-old was rushed to hospital last Monday with pains in his abdomen and he underwent emergency surgery and has remained in hospital since.
As the days have progressed, his condition has improved but he was not well enough to be able to take charge of SPAL’s match with Sassuolo at the weekend.
SPAL assistant manager Andrea Consumi instead took charge for the game and managed SPAL to a 1-1 draw away from home at the Neroverdi’s MAPEI Stadium.
The Milan based newspaper go on to report that it is difficult to foresee Semplici returning for SPAL’s next fixture so Consumi will also be in charge of the Biancazzurri for this coming weekend’s match at home to Sampdoria.
