Former Inter manager Rafa Benitez has denied the idea that his methods did not work while at the Nerazzurri and at Real Madrid in an interview with Spanish newspaper AS.
The Spaniard, who is currently in charge of Premier League side Newcastle United, spent just six months in charge of the Nerazzurri having succeeded Jose Mourinho who departed in the Summer having led Inter to a famous treble.
“I do not agree that my methods did not work,” he insisted.
“At Inter I won two trophies without any of the players I had been promised, we only had Coutinho who was just a kid at the time.”
“At Real Madrid, we qualified for the Champions League quarter finals, we were two points away from Barcelona, who had played one game less and four behind Atletico. It is not a problem for us not to win, we won, but sometimes people do not allow you to win.”
