It is a three-way race between Inter, Milan and Roma for the final two Champions League qualification spots in the eyes of Gazzetta dello Sport.
All clubs are currently bang in form with just three points separating Inter in third from Roma in fifth with Milan sandwiched in between.
Inter could be considered at a disadvantage to the Rossoneri and Giallorossi due to the fact that they are having to deal with Mauro Icardi.
Icardi was stripped of the Inter captaincy in recent weeks and has sat out claiming to be injured for the past four games despite the tests Inter performed on him showing no injury.
Icardi’s absence has left Inter manager Luciano Spalletti short on attacking options and short on goals. In his last four season’s Icardi has scored, 22, 16, 24 and 29 in the league, an average of 23 a season.
Currently he sits on just nine goals and is therefore 14 short of his average tally – a considerable amount when you consider how many games those 14 goals could go toward winning some more games. Between now and the end of the season, it is difficult to imagine Lautaro Martinez making up the deficit on his own.
