Former Inter midfielder Gianni De Biasi has shared his opinion on the long-winded saga between Inter and Mauro Icardi.

Icardi was stripped of the Inter captaincy last month and has not played for the club since. A meeting yesterday between Icardi, his wife/agent Wanda Nara and Inter chief executive Beppe Marotta however suggests that a solution, even if just a temporary one until the end of the season, might be able to be found.

“Let’s spread a merciful veil over the Icardi affair,” De Biasi said in an interview with RMC Sport.

“It was all handled very badly by the person who advises him. A player can make mistakes but the important thing is not to get to the edge because once there the situation becomes an incurable one.

De Biasi then spoke on what he thinks the disgruntled Argentine must do to rectify the situation, particularly with his teammates – many of whom have been criticised by his Wanda in the media.

“He has to go to the dressing room to apologise, he has to say that he has made mistakes and try again.”
