Speaking after Inter’s opening game of the Viareggio Cup 2019 where they drew 1-1 against Braga, against Inter’s primavera coach Armando Madonna had a few words to say: “Braga are a tough opponent to have to face, but Cagliari will also be a complicated opponent for us. Today was difficult as we have played a lot of games lately and we need to recuperate some energy.”
The Inter Primavera team have a proud history in the tournament having own the Cup on no less than 8 occasions and are the current holders having won the tournament last year. In 2008 a young Mario Balotelli was the star of the tournament for Inter scoring two goals in the final and the winning penalty in the resulting penalty shootout.
Madonna continued his assessment by saying: “I was pleased with the reaction of the team today after going behind. It is true that Inter are the current holders of the trophy but every year the Primavera squads change a lot, in the league we have recovered very well.”
