Former Italian referee Paolo Casarin has praised Marco Guida for the way in which he refereed Sunday night’s Derby Della Madonnina which Inter won 3-2.

“I loved the Milan derby. The players were exemplary in a very physical game. In the first half the referee intervened very little, in the second spontaneous decisions came out,” he told Radio Anch’io Lo Sport.

“I really liked the courage that Guida showed in the middle of the field and also the assistance of Calvarese with VAR.

“The referee had the courage to go and see the red card decision again and changed it to yellow and that is an act that shows great growth.”
