Current Italian National team manager and former Inter coach, Roberto Mancini, spoke at his first press conference of the international break today ahead of their first qualifiers for the Uefa European Championships.
Whilst answering questions mainly about the national team, he did briefly speak about the situation faced by his former club and their striker, Mauro Icardi: “It is difficult for me to have an opinion on the outside, not knowing the whole dynamic. It would not be right for me to even respond, I am sorry that situation has presented itself with Mauro, he is a great striker I hope he can sort this out.”
Mancini was managing Inter for his second spell in charge when the decision was made for Icardi to become captain at the start of the 2015-2016 season. Under Mancini that season, Icardi went on to be Inter’s top goalscorer with 16 goals from 33 games and he also made his 100th appearance for the club.
