Gazzetta dello Sport have examined the possibility of Roma striker Edin Dzeko completing a move to Inter in the Summer transfer window.

“The rumours that link Edin Dzeko to Inter grow stronger each day. The crisis at Roma has brought the Bosnian closer to Inter more than ever before. Contract renewal negotiations have stopped, with his contract due to expire at the end of next season,” the report reads.

Roma’s management would gladly keep him but they can’t offer him anything during this time of uncertainty, with regards to Monchi’s departure and having to find a replacement who might have different ideas and so on.

14 months ago, the Bosnian was linked to Chelsea but their interest has passed, but their separation remains inevitable. Meanwhile, Inter are dealing with a conflict with Mauro Icardi and will likely need to replace him.

It’s no coincidence that these rumours strengthen with news of Icardi’s departure. Dzeko would be a cheap replacement but is also old so he would not cause too many problems with Lautaro Martinez if they continue with the one striker system.
