Former Milan player Alessandro Costacurta has commented on the ongoing controversy between Inter and striker Mauro Icardi.

The 26-year-old Argentine was left out of the Inter squad for last night’s match with Lazio – that Inter lost 1-0 – due to something that happened at training, which was reportedly something to do with him not apologising to his teammates for what has went on.

“I would like to know if he did such serious things,” Costacurta said in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport.

Costacurta also spoke on the potential impact that Icardi could have had for Inter, particularly at the end of the match, had he been called up.

“In the match against Lazio, Inter crossed very often in the last twenty minutes but had no one there to head the ball in. It is clear that had they had Icardi in the team all those crosses would not have flown by.”
