Inter huffed, puffed and then threw all their might, but they could not manage to breakdown the white and blue wall of Simone Inzaghi’s men at the Meazza. They still remain third but gave up a glorious chance of taking a huge step towards consecutive Champions League qualification as all their rivals barring Lazio lost this weekend.
Samir Handanovic – 7: The only reason the scoreline didn’t get ugly. Inter kept getting countered and he saved us on multiple occasions. Maybe partially at fault for the goal.
Danilo D’Ambrosio – 5.5: Absolutely nothing going forward. Even messed up the simple passes. Decent in defence, maybe should have done more to stop Alberto crossing the ball in.
Joao Miranda – 5.5: Stable but standoffish. Cant move the ball at all and seems to be in trouble on it even when under no pressure. De Vrij would have been perfect for this game.
Milan Skriniar – 6: Average first 50 minutes or so. Then got angry and decided to win the ball and pass it as quickly as possible. Looked indecisive in certain moments which is rare.
Kwadwo Asamoah – 7: Great game by the Ghanian. Attacked a lot more and seemed like Inter’s most likely goal creator. Some good crosses, great movement and use of the ball. Experienced.
Matias Vecino – 5.5: Started brightly but then faded out of the game. Was missing from them till full time. Its good to see his forward runs but didn’t do it enough times.
Marcelo Brozovic – 5: Lazio packed the midfield but Brozo didn’t look good because of that. His passing seemed off. His touch seemed off. Unbelievably poor on set pieces all game.
Matteo Politano – 5.5: Cannot doubt Matteo’s desire to make something happen. He’s pretty good at his one trick but his shooting has been at the same level. Poor crosses all game.
Borja Valero – 5.5: Had an off night. The tempo of the game didn’t suit him and a lot of his team-mates didn’t read what he was thinking. Should have been brought off earlier.
Ivan Perisic – 6: Ivan was a constant threat to Lazio, but if the old Perisic had so much of the ball, we would have won this game by 3 goals at least. Looked tired and indecisive.
Keita Balde – 6.5: Bright spark tonight. Looked much more comfortable in the striker role than at the start of the season. Too bad his team-mates couldn’t feed him enough.
Radja Nainggolan – 6: Came on and brought some impact. Expected to be closer to the goal, but played deeper and had a few decent runs and one shot. Needs to start every game.
Antonio Candreva – 5: When losing 1-0 at home to a direct rival for a CL spot and you need a goal Antonio is the most frustrating player that can come on. Bad crosses, stupid fouls.
Joao Mario – N/A: Not sure what the thinking was. Looks short of confidence and was out of tune with his team mates in his 10 minutes or so. Maybe Colidio would be a better sub.
Luciano Spalletti – 4: Its ok to concede a goal. Inter were dominating until then and in the second half. What concerns me is that the team didn’t have a plan B in case plan A didn’t work. Poor.
Paolo Mazzoleni – 6: Strangely for an Italian ref he was very lenient and let play go on whenever he could. Didn’t book any player but didn’t have any major decisions to make.
Inter – 4: The stats will show that Inter dominated this game and in a way its true but Inter didn’t create any decent chances or try something different to turn the game.
Agree? Disagree? Who do you think was Inter’s best player of the night?
