Inter Were Annoyed By Spalletti’s Comments Causing Deliberations Over His Future

The Inter management were annoyed, surprised and hurt following Inter manager Luciano Spalletti’s outburst against Mauro Icardi on television following Inter’s home defeat to Lazio on Sunday according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Although Spalletti’s comments are largely shared in thought with the Nerazzurri leadership, it was deemed greatly inappropriate and indelicate. With concerns that this has done more harm than good to their reputation.

Two critical passages angered Inter the most. Firstly, the one which referred to the mediation as humiliating  and secondly, the comparison with Messi and Ronaldo.

Both statements were deemed totally out of place. After all, by not calling upon Icardi for the match was a victory in itself for Spalletti as he thought he was doing it for the benefit of his players and management approved.

However, management did not want to exaggerate the story anymore. The coach is not inexperienced, he knew what he was doing and he knows when and how to send a message.

With suspicions that his future with the club is coming to an end in the Summer maybe this was his motivation, but this belief is denied by management who maintain their trust in Spalletti at this critical stage of the season to secure fourth which is still a highly competitive battle zone and is expected to be until the end of the season, making Inter’s loss to Lazio at home all that more sour.

One thing is for sure though, if Inter fail to make the Champions League, there will be no more doubt. The temptation to replace him is already very strong and as long they have guarantees that money will not be an issue there could be some major changes next season.
