In a column for Corriere della Sera, former sporting director Pierpaolo Marino discussed Financial Fair Play and its affect on Inter among other Inter related topics.
“UEFA penalises clubs with important financial resources such as Inter, preventing them from putting money into football, from clearing debts and reinvesting money on the market,” he began his column.
“Galliani was right about what he said. Financial Fair Play was born from an idea from Platini to protect budgets but in reality, it protects those who want to do business and instead penalises owners who would like to invest important sums of money into football. A club can only spend what it earns.
“This makes it increasingly complicated for an important ownership group like Suning who want to put a lot of money into football to take Inter back to being one of the top clubs.
“Until June 30, the Nerazzurri will have to take care of the budget, then they will be able to move onto the market, giving rise, I believe, to a new technical project. I expect 6-7 purchases and as many exits.”
He then went on to voice his opinion on the futures of Mauro Icardi, Ivan Perisic and Luciano Spalletti at Inter.
“The owners, as well as Marotta, are very annoyed by the Icardi situation. I do not think that the protagonists of this saga will be kept from Icardi to Perisic and maybe even others.
“Spalletti? I understand that Conte and Inter are talking to each other in a bid to shorten the time to take Inter back to the top. Marotta wants a manager who he already knows and trusts. Maybe it could even be Allegri as I have my doubts that he stays with Juventus.”
He concluded by discussing who he thinks Inter will try bring in if Icardi leaves.
“If Conte arrives, Inter will try to sign one of Lukaku and Lewandoski. Dybala would also be perfect paired with Lautaro. An exchange between him and Icardi would guarantee very rich capital gains for both Inter and Juve, however the negotiation is not easy.”
