AS Roma’s Italian midfielder Lorenzo Pellegrini commented on the upcoming game against Inter in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, a game where he and the rest of his team will face former teammate Radja Nainggolan.
“The challenge against Inter comes at a perfect time. We have to continue like this and try to win tomorrow’s game, although it will be tough. I haven’t heard from Radja for a while now, but we get in touch a couple of times during the season. I’m happy if an ex-teammate of mine is doing better following a period where he’s experienced problems. Let’s just hope he is bad against us [laughs].”
Pellegrini believes the match against Inter is important but not decisive in the race to secure a place in the group stages of next season’s Champions League.
“Should we lose, we are not out of it mathematically, but if we win this means we will reduce the gap to Inter, so anything can happen. Our objective is to qualify for the Champions League, it doesn’t matter if this means we end up in the 3rd or 4th spot. We have found our compactness again, then of course it’s normal that you find a bit more serenity when you start to get victories.”
In conclusion Pellegrini was asked about his future with many rumors suggesting that he could be on his way to Inter.
“Here, I’m at home, I’m fine. AS Roma is one of the most important clubs in the world. I’m not looking around for other options, but let’s see. If I could remain here that would be something to be proud of, but there are certain dynamics that you can’t control.”
