Inter & Milan’s New Stadium Project Will Have An Answer Before The End Of May

By May, Inter and Milan’s project to leave San Siro and build a new one will be evaluated by the Milan city council according to a report from Tuttosport.

At Palazzo Marino, the table has been set to start the second phase of talks and the Milanese clubs are expecting to get the OK from this one: “After receiving consultation from Italian and International professional firms in the legal, financial and architectural fields, now the clubs have a bulletproof  plan.”

The date of the meeting has not been set but it will have to be before the end of May. Despite opposition to the demolition of San Siro, Inter and Milan can now field a stronger case for it. after the unsettling tremors which have not yet been fully described by the Department of Mechanics.

The stadium requires continuous upkeep, without any definitive solutions, soon the cost of these repairs will total enough will equal the amount needed to build a new stadium anyway. Even after the Champions League final three years, it became clear that nostalgia for the stadium was fading. San Siro can no longer compete with the the new football stadiums.

The report goes on to state that even if this is the case, the question arises: why don’t Inter and Milan take this opportunity to go their separate ways and build two new stadiums?

This would seem more beneficial to two clubs looking to return to the top of European Football and sharing a stadium is no doubt a limitation, but unfortunately for Milan, since they are owned by Elliott, they need to cut costs so the hedge fund can sell them for a profit in not so distant future.

The construction cost is estimated to be around 700 million and it could be ready by the 2023/24 season.  Unless the Municipality reject the project, in which case the clubs would have to reevaluate their plans to change location.
