First Inter must focus on the guarantee of playing in next season’s Champions League, then the possibility of hiring Antonio Conte. This is according to Rome based Corriere dello Sport, who discusses the possibility of Antonio Conte joining Inter to replace Luciano Spalletti next season.

“At Inter, they recognize the value of Spalletti. They have decided that they will only be interested in changing the coach for someone who they think is best for the project that they have in mind. Because of this, in the last few days, Marotta has had contact with Conte, as the former Chelsea manager is the number one candidate to replace Luciano Spalletti.

“Of course, Conte will be guaranteed reinforcements, but in the plan that was presented to him, the 2019 Summer transfer window will not be massive enough to reach Juve’s level immediately.”

“Due to the fact that Inter will have to pay Spalletti as well as Conte’s wages, which would cost them a total of around €35 million, it will only add to the difficulty of making big signings. Although Inter would have to settle by buying cheaper players, the real added value will be on the bench.”
