Letterio Pino, a member of Mauro Icardi’s entourage, has come to the defence of his client who has come under intense scrutiny for his recent actions off the field and for his poor performances on the field.

“I have known Mauro well since he was 17 and first moved to Italy. He is a wonderful person, who does not deserve what is happening to him,” he began an interview with CalcioMercato.com.

“I do not want to go into the reasons why he was stripped of the captain’s armband, but he did not betray and he will never betray Inter.”

In conclusion Pino was also asked whether he thinks the 26-year-old forward will remain at Inter past this season.

“Will he stay at Inter? As a fan I hope so, even as a professional I think so too.”

This season Icardi has made 35 appearances across all competitions for the Nerazzurri in which he has scored 16 goals and tallied five assists.
