Antonio Conte’s contract with Inter does not include a bonus for qualifying for the Champions League and Rome based newspaper Corriere dello Sport reports the reasoning behind this.

“From here on out it is an obligation. There are, however, rich rewards linked to the success in delivering the Scudetto, the Coppa Italia, as well as doing well in the Champions League or in the Europa League, in case of elimination from the Champions League.”

“The contract signed by Antonio Conte makes him the highest paid coach in the Serie A. It is a very lucrative three year contract. The last coach who had such a high salary at Inter was Jose Mourinho.”

“Overall, for Inter, this is an investment of €34 million euros net plus bonuses, plus another €2-2.5 million net per season for the staff.”

“Due to tax law in Italy, however, the club will only have to pay taxes on 30% of his salary, with a reduction of 70% of the taxable amount.”
