Atalanta president Antonio Percassi has described the Bergamaschi’s 4-1 win over Inter last November as ‘stratospheric’.

Gian Piero Gasperini’s side finished ahead of the Nerazzurri to record an historic third-place finish in Serie A, securing the club’s first ever participation in the UEFA Champions League next season.

Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, Percassi picked the win over Inter and the 3-0 demolition of Juventus in the Coppa Italia as the club’s finest two performances of the campaign.

“We’ve exceeded our wildest dreams,” Percassi said proudly.

“This season has been marvelously mad and we’re still in shock. Every so often I have to check the league table again: did we really finish third?

“I was only hoping for the Europa League, even on the final day of the season when Sassuolo were beating us while Inter and Milan were winning.”

Percassi also named the club’s price for star striker Duvan Zapata, who was linked to Inter before the end of the season.

“I wouldn’t sell him for €40 million, but if somebody came with €50-60 million it would be difficult to turn it down,” he added.
