Massimo Moratti has supported Inter’s decision to appoint Antonio Conte as the club’s new head coach, while also praising the return of Gabriele Oriali as team manager.

Conte was officially appointed on 31 May while Oriali’s arrival has yet to be confirmed by the club, although the 66-year-old is already working for Inter behind the scenes.

Moratti described Conte as ‘a good choice’ before telling Ansa why Oriali returning could only be good news for the Nerazzurri.

“Oriali is very strongly attached to Inter for its history, tradition and character,” the former owner said.

“I always like it when people return to where they’ve been previously. I think his return will give the club more ‘sense’.”

Moratti also admitted he wasn’t surprised to see Inter move out of their old offices in the Vittorio Emanuele II road, where he took them back in 2009.

“It’s normal for clubs to move when a new owner comes in,” he added.

“I think this is a clear sign of Suning’s ambition. They’ve created a big new office in a modern area.”
