Davide Merola is closing in on a move to Bologna after the Felsinei offered the 19-year-old a lucrative four-year deal, according to FcInterNews.it.
The forward has one year left on his deal with Inter and will not renew his contract, leaving the Nerazzurri with no option but to sell him this summer.
Inter want €2 million to let Merola go and have interest from Sampdoria as well as Bologna.
Roma had previously been linked as part of a deal to take Edin Dzeko in the other direction, but neither the Giallorossi nor the player’s agent Mino Raiola were keen.
Raiola does not want Merola to join a big club and be sent on loan to Serie B, preferring to pick a mid-table side and gain first-team experience in the top flight.
Bologna’s new technical director Walter Sabatini already tried to sign the player for Samp in January and has offered Merola a central role in the club’s plans.
Samp are still interested despite Sabatini’s departure last month but the Rossoblu are thought to be comfortably ahead at present.
Merola made 32 appearances in all competitions for Inter’s Primavera side last season, scoring 12 goals and creating three assists.
