The cold war between Inter and Roma seems to continue, as the Nerazzurri CEO Beppe Marotta refuses to pay the €20 million the Giallorossi have asked to let Bosnian international striker Edin Dzeko go, according to Milano based media outlet Corriere della Sera.

According to the report, the Nerazzurri are instead prepared to wait for the former Manchester City striker’s current contract to expire next summer, before signing him on a free transfer, in January when he is free to negotiate with other clubs.

This complicates things for Roma, who have their hearts set on Juventus’ Argentinian striker Gonzalo Higuain. It also complicates life for Juventus, who have to offload the former Napoli striker as well as Croatian striker Mario Mandzukic before trying to sign Mauro Icardi, from Inter.

Inter prefer selling Icardi to Napoli and therefore are in no hurry to aid Roma and by extension Juventus, by overpaying for Dzeko.
