Valentino Lazaro chose to sign for Inter because of Antonio Conte, Champions League football and the club’s history, the player’s agent explained today.

Lazaro was officially announced as the Nerazzurri’s second summer signing on Monday, in between announcements for Diego Godin and Stefano Sensi.

Max Hagmayr revealed the midfielder could have signed for three clubs but was excited at the prospect of joining Inter.

“Inter are one of the most important clubs in the world,” Hagmayr told FcInterNews.it.

“You can tell they’re looking to improve. They’ve appointed a top manager and are highly ambitious. Their project is serious and the fans are excellent too.”

Hagmayr described Conte’s 3-5-2 system as ‘absolutely perfect’ for Lazaro and said the midfielder made his final decision after speaking to Inter’s new boss.

“Lazaro wanted Inter and one of the reasons was because Conte is the best motivator in football,” he added.

The player’s agent then discussed how the transfer first came about, recalling how he met Luciano Spalletti and Piero Ausilio when Inter played Rapid Vienna in February.

“We discussed football in general and then the conversation moved towards Valentino. Then I watched Inter play their second leg at San Siro and everything followed one step at a time.

“Valentino told me he was ready to make the next step in his career.”
