Former Inter attacker Alvaro Recoba believes that compatriot Diego Godin can help Inter improve following his arrival on a free transfer following his release from Atletico Madrid.

“He had a wonderful career in the National team and at Atletico Madrid, everyone saw it. He is a very humble boy, which is the most important thing,” he told GazzettaTV.

“He can help Inter take a leap in quality. Inter already has very strong players in the defence but his experience will help Inter to take another leap forward.”

Recoba then spoke on Mauro Icardi’s situation at the Nerazzurri.

“He is a great striker but I do not know what his, or the clubs, intentions are. If they wanted to make him stay it would be better for everyone but I do not know the situation. As an Inter fan, I hope he remains but I want all of those who are at Inter to have the desire and intention to do well.”

He then spoke on title race for the coming season.

“Can Inter do it? In my opinion, with Antonio Conte, Godin, Lautaro Martinez, Icardi and so many other good players, they can do it.”
