Edin Dzeko reiterated his desire to join Inter yesterday when the Bosnian met Roma’s new sporting director Gianluca Petrachi, according to Corriere della Sera.

Dzeko cut a frustrated figure as the Giallorossi’s first-team squad returned to training and ignored calls to stay from supporters.

Inter and Roma remain €8 million apart on their valuations of the 33-year-old, whose contract in the capital expires next summer, but both clubs want to agree a deal.

“Dzeko went straight past the Roma fans and got back into his car when he left,” the paper reported this morning.

“That certainly doesn’t sound like the kind of motivation Paulo Fonseca was requesting from his players during his first press conference.”

Fonseca told reporters on Monday he only wanted players who were motivated to fight for Roma, in what seemed an indirect message to Dzeko.

Inter and Roma will meet again in the next few days and attempt to find a middle point between the offer of €12 million and the request of €20 million.

Antonio Conte wants to start working with Dzeko as early as possible during preseason while the Giallorossi want to raise funds and create space for Gonzalo Higuain, the replacement they have identified.
