Roberto Gagliardini sounded a rallying cry for his Inter teammates yesterday by describing his ‘enthusiasm’ to begin the new season.

Inter began preseason training under new boss Antonio Conte on Monday, completing the first two sessions of their summer camp in Switzerland.

Gagliardini told Inter TV day one had gone well and said he couldn’t wait to get going this year.

“We’re starting to get some energy back into our legs,” the Italian said.

“We want to do well in our friendly against Lugano on Sunday before setting off for the tour in Asia. We’re looking forward to playing again.”

Inter’s first-team squad features various youngsters from the club’s academy this week, who have been called upon to fill the gaps left by those who are still on holiday.

“We already trained with the young players last year and they’re showing great determination,” Gagliardini added.

“We can’t wait to work altogether with our international teammates as well, though.”
