Inter will make Manchester United a formal offer in the region of €60 million for Romelu Lukaku this week, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

Lukaku is in Australia for United’s summer tour but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has made it clear the Belgian will not be a first-choice player if he stays.

Inter’s chief executive Beppe Marotta is ready to meet the Premier League giants in the next few days and will present the offer.

United still want €83 million to sell Lukaku but the Nerazzurri remain hopeful they can secure a smaller fee for the 26-year-old.

Antonio Conte is hoping for developments in short order after beginning preseason training with limited resources yesterday.

Mauro Icardi is considered surplus to requirements, Edin Dzeko is still stuck at Roma and Lautaro Martinez is on holiday, meaning Conte only has Matteo Politano and Inter’s academy players to work with up front.

Lukaku has made it clear on numerous occasions he wants to join Inter and the forward will be hoping for good news in Australia soon.
