Inter’s deal to sign Nicolò Barella from Cagliari will be a loan with an obligation to buy for a total fee of €40 million, according to Sportitalia.

Barella’s season-long loan will be worth €10 million before he is purchased permanently for another €30 million next summer.

Inter and Cagliari could add extra add-ons to their agreement but the TV station did not specify how much they would be.

The overall fee is nonetheless smaller than what was reported by other sources, with Sky Sport suggesting Barella will cost €45 million plus add-ons.

Barella is on holiday in Sardinia at the moment but will interrupt his vacation to undergo a medical whenever necessary.

Inter seem likely to complete the deal before the end of this week and should sign Barella in time to include him in their preseason tour of Asia.

Antonio Conte wanted another signing in midfield following the arrival of Stefano Sensi and the former Juventus boss is about to have his wish granted.
