Inter could move for Eintracht Frankfurt forward Ante Rebic if their pursuit of Romelu Lukaku fails, according to Sky Sport.

Piero Ausilio met Manchester United for talks in London on Thursday but was told the Belgian would cost €83 million.

Inter do not intend to give up and could raise their initial €70 million offer in the coming days, but the Nerazzurri are exploring alternative options should Lukaku prove impossible to sign.

Rebic made 38 appearances for Frankfurt in all competitions last season, scoring 10 goals and creating six assists.

The 25-year-old was a key part of the side that reached the semi-finals of last season’s Europa League, which saw Adi Hutter’s side lose to the tournament’s eventual winners Chelsea on penalties.

He was also involved in Croatia’s run to the FIFA World Cup final last summer, scoring their opening goal in a 3-0 group stage win over Argentina.

Conte wants Inter to sign Lukaku as quickly as possible but the first reports following today’s talks in England did not seem particularly encouraging.
