Xian Emmers today revealed he decided to join Waasland-Beveren because he would have more game time than at other clubs.

Inter sent the midfielder on a season-long loan yesterday after holding talks with fellow Belgian side Standard Liege last month.

The 19-year-old said he was confident he’d made the right decision and assured he had a ‘huge hunger’ to get going with his new club.

“It’s very important for me to play a lot of minutes this season,” Emmers told hln.be.

“I’m very happy because I can feel the support of the entire club. The coach and the management both made it clear they really wanted me.

“I have good feelings already from my first day here and I think I’ll feel at home very quickly.”

Emmers has spent the last six weeks training alone and asked his new supporters for some time before he got up to speed.

The Belgian made 20 appearances for Cremonese in Serie B last season, scoring once and creating one assist.
