Lautaro Martinez is ‘only thinking about Inter’ and dreams of winning trophies with the Nerazzurri, the forward’s agent assured today.

Beto Yaque earlier this week confirmed Barcelona were ‘strongly’ interested in signing the 21-year-old, who scored nine goals in his debut campaign in Milan.

However, he has now told FcInterNews.it his client is ‘happy’ at Inter, denying the pair had been contacted by the La Liga giants.

Yaque said: “We know the rumours about Barcelona’s interest are true, but I must repeat: Lautaro is staying at Inter.

“Let’s put it like this: if Lionel Messi wants to play with Lautaro then he’ll have to come to Inter. I hope that happens because it would be incredible for the Nerazzurri!”

Antonio Conte has already spoken to Lautaro ahead of his return to preseason training on 28 July, but Yaque assured he had not guaranteed him a place in the starting XI.

“He called to tell Lautaro that he’s counting on him and is very happy to have him in the team,” Yaque revealed.

“He didn’t say he would be first choice, he just said he likes him as a player and is really looking forward to coaching him.

“Lautaro is enthusiastic about this new chapter for Inter and he cannot wait to start working for Conte.”

Yaque also insisted he was not worried by the prospect of Inter signing Romelu Lukaku and Edin Dzeko in attack this summer, reminding his interviewer how no player at any club can be certain of starting every week.

“You always need healthy competition within a squad,” he added.

“I know Inter can attract strikers of an enormously high level but I believe fully in Lautaro’s talent and what he can give.

“He’s ready to compete and it will be their performances which determine who deserves to play.

“The entire world knows who Lautaro is now. We can’t wait for the new season to start so he can achieve great things.”
