Inter’s forgotten man Samuele Longo today revealed his ‘pride’ at being allowed to train with the Nerazzurri’s first team in Switzerland.

The 27-year-old has played on loan for nine different clubs since leaving Inter’s youth system in 2012, making four appearances in Serie B for Cremonese last season.

Longo will most likely start for Antonio Conte’s side on Sunday when they face Lugano in their first preseason friendly.

“It’s a real source of pride for me to be here training with Inter,” the striker told Inter TV.

“I’m trying to give my best so I can make the most of this opportunity, and that’s what I will do against Lugano too.

“I can only learn from my teammates while being here, I’m very happy.”

Longo was full of praise for Conte’s man-management style, explaining how Inter’s new boss is treating every player in the same manner.

“This is something which pushes you to give that little bit extra for him,” Longo continued.

“He’s teaching us a lot of new and interesting movements which I hadn’t tried in the past. The coach is very determined and he’s transferring this to the whole group.”

The Italian then offered some thoughts on his journeyman career, which so far has peaked during spells with Girona and Tenerife in Spain.

“Every experience allows you to pick up something new,” Longo added.

“I’ve been lucky enough to get plenty of new opportunities and I’ve grown as a player and as a person. I’m not 19 anymore so I’ve certainly improved.”

Longo has also played with Espanyol, Verona, Rayo Vallecano, Cagliari, Frosinone and Huesca since winning the NextGen Series with Andrea Stramaccioni seven years ago.
