Boca Juniors sporting director and ex-Inter defender Nicolas Burdisso contacted Javier Zanetti recently about the possibility of signing Mauro Icardi, according to the club’s owner.
Dario Benedetto is about to leave the Argentine giants and Burdisso wished to obtain further information about Icardi, who is no longer part of the Nerazzurri’s plans and could have been a replacement.
Boca president Daniel Angelici completed a deal to sign Daniele De Rossi last week, but it appears Maurito will not be joining up with the Roma legend.
“I heard recently that Burdisso spoke to Zanetti to find out about the situation,” Angelici told Radio Cooperativa last night.
“It’s always worth asking Inter, we’re not going to lose anything from it.”
Reports in Argentina have confirmed Icardi would be far to costly for Boca, with Inter thought to be holding out for around €70 million.
Icardi will resume preseason training with the rest of the first team tomorrow, having worked alone at Appiano Gentile during Inter’s tour in Asia.
