Roma have not lost hope of retaining striker Edin Dzeko despite Inter’s long-standing interest in signing him according to a report from Corriere dello Sport.

The Bosnian striker has looked almost certain to leave the Giallorossi this Summer but negotiations between Roma and Inter continue to drag on with some distance between Inter’s offer and Roma’s demands, which they have so far refused to drop.

New Roma manager Paulo Fonseca has spoken with the 33-year-old veteran several times since taking charge in the Italian capital in a bid to make him feel important and stress that he wants him to remain with the club for the coming season.

Dzeko has promised himself to Inter for a few months but if no move comes to fruition, he will have to see out the final year of his contract before then having complete freedom when it comes to selecting his next club next Summer.
