Inter have just five days left to complete a deal to sign Edin Dzeko from Roma, according to Corriere dello Sport.

Dzeko is irritated by the Giallorossi’s decision to raise their asking price even further, from €20 million to €25 million, and has rejected a new contract offer from Gianluca Petrachi.

However, Roma will take the forward off the transfer market if nothing has changed by the end of this weekend.

The paper reported this morning: “Dzeko made a commitment to Inter some time ago and wants to keep his promise, but if Roma ask him to respect his contract there’s nothing he can do.

“Edin made his decision a long time ago and it wasn’t only motivated by economic reasons. He is frustrated by this situation.”

Roma are prepared to keep Dzeko for another season and lose him on a free transfer next summer, when the Bosnian’s deal expires.

Dzeko views a move to Inter as the chance to earn the last big contract of his career, having turned 33 in March.

His club have already allowed Kostas Manolas and Stephan El Shaarawy to leave after they asked to be sold and the striker hopes he will receive the same treatment.

Petrachi used stern words towards Dzeko when being presented as Roma’s new sporting director on 4 July, before talking up their desired replacement in Gonzalo Higuain.

The scenario has changed since then, though, because Paulo Fonseca has grown fond of Dzeko and Higuain seems to have rejected the Giallorossi’s advances.
