Roma are pushing hard to arrange a deal with Inter that would see the clubs swap Mauro Icardi and Edin Dzeko, according to Sport Mediaset.

Icardi has not made a final decision on his future yet and is taking time so that Juventus can materialise later in the transfer window.

The Bianconeri need to offload a couple of forward players in their squad before they can fuel a move for Inter’s former captain.

Roma’s close relationship with the Italian champions could ensure Icardi moves there anyway in twelve months’ time, though.

Napoli are another club interested in signing Maurito but it is the Giallorossi’s approach which is concerning Beppe Marotta for the moment.

Inter’s CEO is prepared to insert a clause in any deal with Roma for Icardi which forbids them from selling the 26-year-old to his former club.

Icardi has missed every preseason friendly under Antonio Conte and is being excluded from tactical exercises and practice matches at Appiano Gentile.

The Argentine is expected to depart in the next three weeks but his next destination remains as unclear as ever.
