Inter Target Edin Dzeko Wants Future Sorted Before Serie A Season Starts

Edin Dzeko wants his future sorted before Roma begin their new Serie A campaign on 25 August, according to Corriere dello Sport online.

The striker gave his word to Inter back in March but still does not know what club he will be playing for this season.

Dzeko’s professional attitude throughout preseason is persuading Roma it would be better for the club to keep him another season.

“Roma have made it clear to Inter that if they don’t make a swap deal with Mauro Icardi available for a reasonable price, or if no worthy alternative options emerge, it will practically impossible to find a replacement for Dzeko,” the article read.

“James Pallotta has told his management not to have their arms twisted and only sell their star player if Roma can strengthen their side as a result.”

Icardi and Gonzalo Higuain have both been linked with Roma this summer but it appears neither striker is eager to join them in the capital.

Dzeko is eager to start working with Antonio Conte and has repeatedly told the Giallorossi his time at the club is over, but he is not prepared to betray his employers for now.

CdS continued: “At this point it’s not his problem anymore. If the clubs reach an agreement he’ll be happy, but if not he’ll get back to work.”

Roma sold Kevin Strootman to Marseille at the end of last summer’s transfer window, after the midfielder had featured in their opening match against Torino.

Dzeko does not wish to experience the same confusing series of events and is keen for his future to be resolved before Paulo Fonseca’s side play Genoa at the Stadio Olimpico.
