Antonio Candreva insisted Inter’s strong performance against Lecce was the result of the Nerazzurri’s unity in the dressing room.

Marcelo Brozovic, Stefano Sensi and Romelu Lukaku all found the net for Antonio Conte’s side before Candreva capped a 4-0 win with a stunning long-range effort.

Inter’s next match will take place at the Sardegna Arena against Cagliari on Sunday evening.

Candreva told InterTV: “It was a nice match tonight. We put in a positive performance, we wanted the three points.

“We’re a good group, we all hugged each other after every goal. We’re happy together, we’re happy to be on the pitch in training.

“The coach wants us to be compact but also to provide width both in attack and defence. We’re open so we need to keep our balance.

“It’s a matter of having confidence and a clear head. Everything comes more easily after that.”

Candreva is playing a new right wing-back position this season and joked he would benefit from having played so little last year.

“I relaxed last season so now I have more freshness,” he said.

“It’s a position where you expend a lot of energy. You need to always stay in the game though.

“You need to mark in the box when defending while you need to carry out the moves we try when attacking.”

Asked about his incredible goal, the Italian simply replied: “Nothing… I saw there was room and it went well.”
